Social media marketing has long been touted as the best way to actively engage with prospects and get new business.

But does social media really work for your MSP marketing efforts, or is it just a time suck that should be avoided?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ answer to that question. Each business is unique, and as such, the answer will be unique for your business as well.

To try and help you gauge if Social Media will ‘work for you’ we’ve collected some thoughts below.

Is Your Market Active On Social Media?

The answer is most likely Yes. These days there aren’t many people not using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or the like.

You don’t have to worry if they’re on social media, but you should think about why they’re on social media and if it’ll help you or not.

How Big Is Your Market On Social Media?

Just because Facebook has over a billion users, it doesn’t mean you have a billion people to market to, especially as a MSP who is only servicing a specific area.

You need to explore exactly how big your market is on the different social platforms, taking into account who your ideal customer is and where they are located. If your market is small, is it really worth spending time (and possibly even money) on social media?

In the case of Social Media Marketing, Size Matters.

Do You Have The Time?

As a business owner you’re probably over worked, stressed and ready for a good night’s sleep.

Ask yourself: Do I have the time needed to invest in creating a social media strategy, and then implement it?

Usually the answer is no.

If that’s the case you then need to look at a few different options:

  1. Find someone on your current team who has the time and knowledge to do it.
  2. Outsource your social media strategy to a social marketing company.
  3. Schedule a call with a Pronto Marketing Expert and learn how we help 100’s of MSPs with their social media.

A successful social media strategy is one that takes time. Because creating, building and earning trust doesn’t happen overnight.

Sharing content and strategies that your prospects value is what will make you ‘win’ on social media.

It all takes time.

If you’re looking for a quick win, social media isn’t the right fit. Something like Google Adwords might be more appropriate.

A strong social media strategy is like planting a tree – it takes time, water and care before it blossoms.

Do You Want To Build A Long Lasting Business?

As I mentioned above, social media takes time to prosper, but when done properly by providing value and engaging with prospects, it is a strategy that can keep a business busy for years to come.

So if you’re looking to build a long term business, social media must be apart of your MSP marketing strategy. It certainly shouldn’t be the ‘only thing’ you do, but it needs to be a part of your overall strategy.

What Now?

The best time to promote your business on social media is when you’re ready. But even if you’re not ready, at least ‘claim’ your business’s name on the different social media sites.

As always, our Pronto Marketing experts are only ever a call away to chat about how we can help you build a successful MSP marketing engine.
